Your initial consultation with Dr Phegan is an assessment and an opportunity to discuss your condition and treatment options. It is not a commitment to having surgery.

In many cases, non-surgical or conservative treatments are recommended as the first step before considering surgery. Depending on your condition, these may include podiatry, physiotherapy, activity or footwear modification, injections, and other appropriate non-surgical options.

Your consultation is an opportunity to understand your diagnosis, discuss the available treatment options, and develop a treatment plan that is appropriate for you. Surgery may be considered if it is the most suitable option, but it is not always the first recommendation.

Together, we can discuss your options and decide on the best way forward.

Once you have a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) or another medical specialist, please contact our rooms to arrange your appointment. If your GP has sent the referral directly to us, please let our team know when making your appointment.

To help us provide you with the best possible care, please remember to bring:

• Your referral from your GP or medical specialist
• Your Medicare card (and DVA card if applicable)
• Your private health insurance details
• WorkCover paperwork or claim number if your appointment is work-related
• Details of any previous investigations and procedures related to your condition
• Previous operation reports
• X-rays, scans and test results relevant to your foot or ankle problem
• Your current medication list including any over-the-counter medicines you take
• Any other relevant information regarding your condition or medical history

To ensure we have all the necessary information prior to your appointment, please complete our online New Patient Form before your consultation.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please telephone our office during business hours.

We kindly ask that you provide as much notice as possible so that your appointment time can be offered to another patient who is seeking treatment.

If you require the completion of an insurance form, work capacity certificate, or other documentation during your specialist appointment, please bring the relevant form or paperwork with you to your appointment.
